Semester End

Well. I successfully made it through another semester of Nursing School. Or at least I passed this semester and am going on to the final semester. Most of the semester was really good. We got to do our home health rotation, which I loved. The rotation at East TN Children's hospital I hated. I don't want to work with sick kids and we really are not allowed to do much there. Then I got to go back to Methodist Medical for my MedSurg rotation. Which I loved that. I was on the 4th floor this time and it was a really great floor. I really hope I get to do my Transitions there next semester. Plus the nurses on that floor and the CNA's really liked me. Since I want to get a job there when I graduate I was really excited. I got to go to the ICU, which was more like Scrubs than any other place I have seen in the hospital. And I got to follow around the wound care nurse. For some reason, I really love wound care. I did however, find out by being with her that you have to have a bachelors degree and then a year in a specialty course to be an actual wound care nurse. I loved it so much that I thought about getting the bachelors the degree. Not for a while tho. I want to work for a while and decide where life is going to take us.
I was going to apply for a CNA job that I found at Methodist. It was in the CCU and it was perfect hours for next semester. That way, I could already have my foot in their door since I know I want to end up there. But I called to ask the HR director, just to be sure I could apply for it with just nursing school. One of our teachers had mentioned that some one in a previous class had applied for a Covenant job she was not licensed for and the black listed her from all Covenant jobs for a year.Well, turns out it was good that I called. They said that the state required any one who applied for those jobs to have license. She even said she knew it was silly since being a second year I would have more training than a CNA. Which is very much true. I could get a CNA license in about 6 weeks. In fact, I looked into it. But it is ridiculously expensive and it would over lap for when classes actually started. So I decided it was not worth it.
The semester ended not as good as I would have liked. I got a really bad grade on the final. So bad that it brought my 83 average down to a 73. So I ended up with a C in the class. That is the first C I have got since I started back at Roane State.
Now that the semester is over, I feel like a huge knot has been lifted off my chest. I can read a book that's not school related and not feel guilty. I can do some Pinterest projects, because I actually have some time. And I can write a little on here.
We leave next week for our Christmas run around between Nashville, Centerville, and Paris. But I am looking forward to it. I will be good to see family. But we are coming back home for New Years, or we might head up to Louisville. Plans for New Year's are not set yet.
I have a couple of projects working, so I am going to post some pictures after while.
Right now, I am going to go lay in bed and read.
