Day Eighteen of Photo Challenge

Today was of your shoes. Since it did not specify which kind of shoes, I decided to go with my house-shoes, since that is what I was wearing at the time and those are the shoes I most like to be in! These particular house-shoes are sort of the one Peter got me for Christmas. The one he originally got me were to small so I had to return them and they did not have anymore like them so I had to settle for these. But they are pink, so the soot me well.

Day Seventeen of Photo Challenge

Today the challenge was technology. So I decided to go with an older picture. This is from September 2010 at the first Titans game of the season. We played the Raiders and we went to this particular game because our friend Korby is a Raiders fan for some reason and we always said we would go if they ever played. It was a fun game! Titans, thankfully, won. (Lucky for Korby or he might have been walking his butt back to Knoxville!) But I figured this was as good as any for a technology shot. I mean the digital system is better than in the old days of somebody hanging out up there and flipping numbers.

Day Sixteen of Photo Challenge

Today is long exposure and I had to look that up to see what kind of shot it was looking for. Once I saw it, I was sure that I did not have a shot like that or would I be able to get one. So I had downloaded one from online and when I came to up load it, I saw this. This was taken just about a month ago on the road to Gatlinburg. It may not be exactly what it is calling for, but it's mine and it's a nice shot.

Day Fifteen of Photo Challenge

Today was a picture of a silhouette. Ironically enough I took this picture yesterday before I knew what the photo was for today. This is Boris sitting in the window and I thought it was cool the way his shadow fell on the floor so I took this picture. It worked out since I needed it for today's challenge!

A Childhood Memory

So Peter and I are watching the recently released A-Team movie and it reminded me of something from my childhood that I thought worthy of sharing. I remember that my mom and I, along with my great grand mother used to watch the original A-Team show on TV. The ironic thing is I don't remember very much about the show, except for the very memorable Mr. T. However, I do remember sitting in Mama Tucker's bedroom and watching the show. I even remember the picture of Uncle Gene that sat on top of the TV, and how mom would have to sit it to the side because she would want to cry every time she looked at it. (He had died suddenly a couple years before.) I remember how mom and I had a deal that I would scratch her back during the TV show and she would scratch mine during the commercials. At the time I did not realize that I was getting the short end of the stick. I texted my mom and told her about her response was "That was only fair, I'm the mom!" It was a wonderful memory that I am happy to have remembered at this time. The weird thing about my great grandmothers house that I remember everything about it. I remember the layout and how it smelled and what the wallpaper looked like. It burned down when I was about eight. Mama Tucker had been taken my her daughter to Lebanon and put in a nursing home and her youngest son was living in the house and something happened and the house caught on fire. It burned to the ground and there was nothing from it that we were able to save. We never told Mama Tucker that her house was gone, but I always felt like she knew anyways. Even though she had dementia she still new things that the others did not give her credit for. For example, while she was in the nursing home and after she had a stroke, she kept asking for her babies. OraDea, who is her daughter that took her away in the first place was naive and thought she was talking about her baby doll from back home. But in fact she was talking about me and my mom. We lived about and hour and a half from the nursing home she had put her in and did not have a reliable car to get out there often. But my Uncle and Grandpa finally found out were she was and they took us to see her and the first thing she said when she saw us was, "My babies." She was waiting on us to come and see her. I may not be very religious, but I believe with all my heart that she was waiting to see me and my mom again before she dies. And I believe that she has been close by for all the rest of my life looking over me. This memory went way further than I meant to, but I am leaving it all here for all to read.

day Fourteen of Photo Challenge

Today was eyes, so since I already used the cat's eyes for my something green I went with my handsome husbands eyes! There was a time before his Lasik eye surgery that I did not know what his eye color was! Now his pretty blue (most times) eyes are always open wide!

Day Twelve of Photo Challenge

Today was a picture of the sunset. I had every intention of going out and taking a pic of the sunset over the lovely city of Knoxville. But instead I was upstairs trying to make my care plan for tomorrow absoulety perfect so that maybe it would not get written all over for once. Oh, and looking up about 25 medications that my assignment for tomorrow is on. So in other words, I forgot about the sunset. So I found this picture on line. It is in Hawaii and I chose this one for two reasons. One, I have actually seen the sunset on the beach when I was 16. But secondly and more importantly, I am going to be there again. Sitting right there on the beach, with the man I love.

Day Eleven of Photo Challenge

Today is something blue. So I chose to go with the Titans. I had one of the field from a game, but decided that it would have worked better for green, not blue. So, I took a picture of my favorite drinking cup that just happens to have the Titans logo on it! Best color of blue there is!

Day Ten of Photo Challenge

Today the theme was Childhood memory. As I was sitting here thinking what I could use I saw this figurine on my bookshelf. This is the figurine that my Nanny got me for my 16th birthday (obviously). But I remembered thinking how precious it was and how careful I wanted to be with it to make sure it did not get broke. Then I thought about my teddy bear that I have had since I was about 7 years old. I also got this bear for my birthday from one of my good friends, but for some reason, he has always been precious to me also. He has moved with m every where I have lived since then. He has even been to college. He has seen me shed many tears and laugh during many good times. So I thought since these two things are my two oldest and most memorable items that I would include both of them and their stories today. My bear, is of course, named Snuggles because I thought he looked like the bear from the commercials and my figurine still sits on my book shelf and every time I move, I take special attention not to break her.

Day Nine of Photo Challenge

Today is some one you love. So I, of course, had to choice my wonderful husband, Peter. Although when I told him what I was taking the picture for he said he was surprised I did not choice the cat! Believe it or not, Peter, I do love you more than the cat. I have to say that I am a lucky girl to have him in my life. He believes in me when no one else does, he supports me no matter what, he helps me study for my tests even when he would rather be doing something else. He is handsome and sweet and the love of my life. I have been in love with him for 10 years now and married to him for 6 years this May! I could not ask for a better soul mate!

Silver Plunger

"This is assigned to the rookie chili chef or the grand experimenter whose chili fails all qualities of being a chili or just taste like shit."

Here's the thing! We may have won the Silver Plunger award for our kick ass chili, but I think people just don't know good chili when it bites them in the ass. Howie, the owner of Cool Beans, said that this is the first year that the person who won the Silver Plunger came with in two votes of winning Numero Uno also.
Here's what I think happened! We got there early. At about 4:30 which is when Korby told us we needed to be there to enter a chili. We were the fourth entry. So everyone started trying out chili and really liked it. A bunch of people kept going back for more and said how tasty it was. By the end of the first quarter our chili was all gone. It was the only chili that was all gone. And it was in my huge crock pot. So I think that all the people that were there early, voted for us. When their friends showed up, they told them to try it and it was all gone so they voted it the Silver Plunger since they did not get to try it! That's how I see it anyways!! How else would you explain such an awesome chili not winning!

So, Here is Peter accepting our Silver Plunger form Saint. We didn't get to keep it, he just signed it and gave it back for next year. We did get $20 Cool Bean bucks and a portable grill and a really awesome chili recipe that I am going to make again soon. So not a total loss.
Ok, I know what you are thinking! That I am bias because we made this chili. Let me tell you a little story about some of the previous attempts we have made a chili. Once Peter decided that he was going to throw all the pepper and vegetables in the blender in order to chop them up. Basically he puree it and dumped it in the crock pot and added canned chili. I was iffy to try it, but took one bite and project-tiled vomited, as did Peter. That was a fail.
Then I tried to make chili once using a recipe my Nanny gave me, but the beans turned out crunchy and the meat was to greasy. That was a fail.
So when I say this chili was actually good, I mean it!
Also, I just remember, I won a back massage to because I bet Peter when he first started talking about this that he would win the Silver Plunger. Granted I was thinking about the puree chili when I said that, but never the less, I will take my back massage now!

SuperBowl Chili

So every year we go to Cool Beans and watch the Superbowl. They always have a chili cook off and we have always talked about entering. Since this is the year of doing and talking, we decided to try out hand at it. I found a recipe on allrecipes.com and we tweaked it a little to make it our own. So here is our secret!
Ingredients
2 red onions
2 ribs of celery
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
teaspoon spicy mustard
teaspoon garlic salt
3 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 can chicken broth
1 1/2 milk
chilies peppers
jalapeno peppers
habernero peppers
block queso cheese
dash black pepper
pint of beer (we used Fat Tire)
ground sweet sausage
ground lamb

Chop and saute onions and celery in butter until tender
Stir in flour, spicy mustard, and Worcestershire until well blended
Gradually add broth and 1 cup of milk
Bring to a boil then stir for 2 minutes
reduce heat
Add in chopped peppers
slice the cheese block into slices and melt with one cup of milk
add cheese mixture to other
drain black beans and add
Add chili beans with the sauce
cook meat thoroughly and add to mixture
add beer and add ground pepper
Now Enjoy! It may look like vomit as my friend Korby said, but it tastes like a winning chili to me! Besides, what does Korby know. He shoots to win the hottest chili ever year and succeeds because he dumps every hot sauce imaginable into it! It's so hot you can't taste anything afterwards for about three days!!

Operation Destroy Diet Coke Box

So I go in the kitchen last night to make my and Peter's lunch and Bastian follows me as usual. But instead of coming to beg me for food like usual he does, his ADD kicked in and he saw the Diet Coke box. So enjoy this series of pictures of my fat cat and his new favorite toy the Diet Coke box!

Let's lay down in the box!
And now let's see if the head will fit through!
Yup! It will! Fun in the box!
